Rabi al Akher - Dua for commencing the month

Transliteration

allaahumma anta ilaahu kulli shay' wa khaaliqu kulli shay' wa maaliku kulli shay' wa rabbu kulli shay' as-aluka bil-'urwatil-wuthqaa wal-ghaayati wal-muntahaa wa bimaa khaalafta bihee baynal-anwaari waz-zulumat wal-jannati wan-naar wad-dunyaa wal-aakhirah wa bi-a'zami asmaa'ika feel-lawhil-mahfooz wa atammi asmaa'ika fit-tawraati nublaa wa azhari asmaa'ika fiz-zaboori 'izzaa

Translation

O Allah, You are the God of everything, and the Creator of everything, and the Owner of everything, and the Lord of everything. I ask You by the firmest handhold, and the ultimate purpose and highest goal, and by that through which You separated light from darkness, Paradise from the Fire, and this world from the Hereafter. And by the greatest of Your names in the Preserved Tablet, and the most complete of Your names in nobility in the Torah, and the most radiant of Your names in might in the Psalms,

Transliteration

wa ajalli asmaa'ika feel-injeeli qadraa wa arfa'i asmaa'ika feel-qur'aani dhikraa wa a'zami asmaa'ika feel-kutubil-munazzalati wa afdalihaa wa asarri asmaa'ika fee nafsik alladhee laysa ka-mithlihee shay' wa as-aluka bi-'izzatika wa qudratik wa bil-'arshil-'azeemi wa maa hamal wa bil-kursiyyil-kareemi wa maa wasi' an tusalliya 'alaa muhammadin wa aali muhammad wa tubeeha lee min 'indika farajakal-qareebal-'azeemal-a'zam allaahumma atmim 'alayya ihsaanakal-qadeemal-aqdam wa taabi' ilayya ma'roofakad-daa'imal-adwam

Translation

and the most exalted of Your names in stature in the Gospel, and the most elevated of Your names in mention in the Qur'an, and the greatest and most virtuous of Your names in the revealed Books, and the most hidden of Your names within Yourself, the One unto Whom there is nothing like. And I ask You by Your might and Your power, and by the Tremendous Throne and what it bears, and by the Noble Seat and what it encompasses, that You bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and grant me from Yourself Your near, magnificent, greatest relief. O Allah, make complete upon me Your ancient, primordial benevolence, continue toward me Your lasting, enduring favor,

Transliteration

wa an'ishnee bi-'izzi jalaalikal-kareemil-akram

Translation

and revive me through the might of Your noble, most generous majesty.

Transliteration

wa ilaahukum ilaahun waahidun laa ilaaha illaa huwar-rahmaanur-raheem

Translation

And your Allah is One Allah: There is no god but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Transliteration

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa huwal-hayyul-qayyoom laa ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa laa nawm

Translation

Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep.

Transliteration

alif-laam-meem allaahu laa ilaaha illaa huwal-hayyul-qayyoom

Translation

A.L.M. Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal.

Transliteration

huwal-ladhee yusawwirukum feel-arhaami kayfa yashaa' laa ilaaha illaa huwal-'azeezul-hakeem

Translation

He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Transliteration

shahidal-laahu annahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo wal-malaa'ikatu wa oolul-'ilmi qaa'imam-bil-qist laa ilaaha illaa huwal-'azeezul-hakeem

Translation

There is no god but He: That is the witness of Allah, his angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Transliteration

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo layajma'annakum ilaa yawmil-qiyaamati laa rayba feeh wa man asdaqu minal-laahi hadeethaa

Translation

Allah! There is no god but He: of a surety He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment, about which even there is no doubt. And whose word can be truer than Allah's?

Transliteration

dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum laa ilaaha illaa huwa khaaliqu kulli shay'in fa'budooh wa huwa 'alaa kulli shay'iw-wakeel

Translation

That is Allah, your Lord! there is no god but He, the Creator of all things: then worship ye Him: and He hath power to dispose of all affairs.

Transliteration

ittabi' maa oohiya ilayka mir-rabbik laa ilaaha illaa hoo wa a'rid 'anil-mushrikeen

Translation

Follow what thou art taught by inspiration from thy Lord: there is no god but He: and turn aside from those who join gods with Allah.

Transliteration

qul yaa ayyuhan-naasu innee rasoolul-laahi ilaykum jamee'aa alladhee lahoo mulkus-samaawaati wal-ard laa ilaaha illaa huwa yuhyee wa yumeet fa-aaminoo bil-laahi wa rasoolihin-nabiyyil-ummiyy alladhee yu'minu bil-laahi wa kalimaatihee wattabi'oohu la'allakum tahtadoon

Translation

Say: "O men! I am sent unto you all, as the Apostle of Allah, to Whom belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is He That giveth both life and death. So believe in Allah and His Apostle, the Unlettered Prophet, who believeth in Allah and His words: follow him that (so) ye may be guided."

Transliteration

fa-in tawallaw faqul hasbiyal-laah laa ilaaha illaa huwa 'alayhi tawakkalt wa huwa rabbul-'arshil-'azeem

Translation

But if they turn away, Say: "Allah sufficeth me: there is no god but He: on Him is my trust,- He the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme!"

Transliteration

kadhaalika arsalnaaka fee ummatin qad khalat min qablihaaa umamun litatluwa 'alayhimul-ladheee awhaynaaa ilayk wa hum yakfuroona bir-rahmaan qul huwa rabbee laa ilaaha illaa huwa 'alayhi tawakkaltu wa ilayhi mataab

Translation

Thus have we sent thee amongst a People before whom (long since) have (other) Peoples (gone and) passed away; in order that thou mightest rehearse unto them what We send down unto thee by inspiration; yet do they reject (Him), the Most Gracious! Say: "He is my Lord! There is no god but He! On Him is my trust, and to Him do I turn!"

Transliteration

yunazzilul-malaa'ikata bir-roohi min amrihee 'alaa may-yashaa'u min 'ibaadih an andhiroo annahoo laa ilaaha illaa ana fattaqoon

Translation

He doth send down His angels with inspiration of His Command, unto such of His servants as He pleaseth, (saying): "Warn (Man) that there is no god but I: so do your duty unto Me."

Transliteration

wa in tajhar bil-qawli fa-innahoo ya'lamus-sirra wa akhfaa allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo lahul-asmaaa'ul-husnaa

Translation

If thou pronounce the word aloud, (it is no matter): for verily He knoweth what is secret and what is yet more hidden. Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the most Beautiful Names.

Transliteration

wa anakhtartuka fastami' limaa yoohaa innanee anal-laahu laa ilaaha illaa ana fa'budnee wa aqimis-salaata lidhikree innas-saa'ata aatiyatun akaadu ukhfeehaa litujzaa kullu nafsim-bimaa tas'aa

Translation

"Also I have chosen thee: hearken, then, to the inspiration (sent to thee). "Verily, I am Allah: There is no god but I: So serve thou Me (only), and establish regular prayer for celebrating My praise. "Verily the Hour is coming - My design is to keep it hidden - for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour.

Transliteration

innamaa ilaahukumul-laahul-ladhee laa ilaaha illaa hoo wasi'a kulla shay'in 'ilmaa

Translation

But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge.

Transliteration

wa maa arsalnaa min qablika mir-rasoolin illaa noohee ilayh annahoo laa ilaaha illaa ana fa'budoon

Translation

Not an apostle did We send before thee without this inspiration sent by Us to him: that there is no god but I; therefore worship and serve Me.

Transliteration

wa dhan-nooni idh dhahaba mughaadiban fazanna al-lan naqdira 'alayh fanaadaa fiz-zulumaati al-laa ilaaha illaa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu minaz-zaalimeen

Translation

And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the depths of darkness, "There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong!"

Transliteration

fata'aalal-laahul-malikul-haqq laa ilaaha illaa huwa rabbul-'arshil-kareem

Translation

Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour!

Transliteration

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo rabbul-'arshil-'azeem

Translation

"Allah!- there is no god but He!- Lord of the Throne Supreme!"

Transliteration

wa huwal-laahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo lahul-hamdu feel-oolaa wal-aakhirah wa lahul-hukmu wa ilayhi turja'oon

Translation

And He is Allah: There is no god but He. To Him be praise, at the first and at the last: for Him is the Command, and to Him shall ye be brought back.

Transliteration

wa laa tad'u ma'al-laahi ilaahan aakhar laa ilaaha illaa hoo kullu shay'in haalikun illaa wajhah lahul-hukmu wa ilayhi turja'oon

Translation

And call not, besides Allah, on another god. There is no god but He. Everything (that exists) will perish except His own Face. To Him belongs the Command, and to Him will ye (all) be brought back.

Transliteration

yaa ayyuhan-naasudh-kuroo ni'matal-laahi 'alaykum hal min khaaliqin ghayrul-laahi yarzuqukum minas-samaaa'i wal-ard laa ilaaha illaa huwa fa-annaa tu'fakoon

Translation

O men! Call to mind the grace of Allah unto you! is there a creator, other than Allah, to give you sustenance from heaven or earth? There is no god but He: how then are ye deluded away from the Truth?

Transliteration

khalaqakum min nafsiw-waahidatin thumma ja'ala minhaa zawjahaa wa anzala lakum minal-an'aami thamaaniyata azwaaj yakhluqukum fee butooni ummahaatikum khalqam-mim ba'di khalqin fee zulumaatin thalaath dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum lahul-mulk laa ilaaha illaa huwa fa-annaa tusrafoon

Translation

He created you (all) from a single person: then created, of like nature, his mate; and he sent down for you eight head of cattle in pairs: He makes you, in the wombs of your mothers, in artifice, one after another, in three veils of darkness. such is Allah, your Lord and Cherisher: to Him belongs (all) dominion. There is no god but He: then how are ye turned away?

Transliteration

ghaafridh-dhambi wa qaabilit-tawbi shadeedil-'iqaabi dhit-tawl laa ilaaha illaa huwa ilayhil-maseer

Translation

Who forgiveth sin, accepteth repentance, is severe in punishment, and is all-bountiful. There is no god but He: to Him is the final goal.

Transliteration

dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum khaaliqu kulli shay' laa ilaaha illaa huwa fa-annaa tu'fakoon

Translation

Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things, there is no god but He: Then how ye are deluded away from the Truth!

Transliteration

allaahul-ladhee ja'ala lakumul-arda qaraaraw-was-samaaa'a binaaa'an wa sawwarakum fa-ahsana suwarakum wa razaqakum minat-tayyibaat dhaalikamul-laahu rabbukum fatabaarakal-laahu rabbul-'aalameen huwal-hayyu laa ilaaha illaa hoo fad'oohu mukhliseena lahud-deena al-hamdu lil-laahi rabbil-'aalameen

Translation

It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape- and made your shapes beautiful,- and has provided for you sustenance, of things pure and good;- such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! He is the Living (One): There is no god but He: Call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

Transliteration

qaala rabbus-samaawaati wal-ardi wa maa baynahumaa in kuntum-mooqineen

Translation

(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be confirmed in belief."

Transliteration

laa ilaaha illaa huwa yuhyee wa yumeet rabbukum wa rabbu aabaaa'ikumul-awwaleen

Translation

There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and to your earliest ancestors.

Transliteration

fahal yanzuroona illas-saa'ata an ta'tiyahum baghtatan faqad jaaa'a ashraatuhaa fa-annaa lahum idhaa jaaa'at-hum dhikraahum fa'lam annahoo laa ilaaha illal-laah wastaghfir lidhambika wa lil-mu'mineena wal-mu'minaat wal-laahu ya'lamu mutaqallabakum wa mathwaakum

Translation

Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on them of a sudden? But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition? Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes.

Transliteration

huwal-laahul-ladhee laa ilaaha illaa huwal-malikul-quddoosus-salaamul-mu'minul-muhayminul-'azeezul-jabbaarul-mutakabbir subhaanal-laahi 'ammaa yushrikoon

Translation

Allah is He, than Whom there is no god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah! (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.

Transliteration

allaahu laa ilaaha illaa hoo wa 'alal-laahi falyatawakkalil-mu'minoon

Translation

Allah! There is no god but He: and on Allah, therefore, let the Believers put their trust.

Transliteration

allaahumma innee as-aluka 'afwan laysa ba'dahu 'uqoobah wa ridan laysa ba'dahu sakhat wa 'aafiyatan laysa ba'dahaa balaa' wa sa'aadatan laysa ba'dahaa shaqaa' wa hudan laa yakoonu ba'dahu dalaalah wa eemaanan laa yudaakhiluhu kufr wa qalban laa yudaakhiluhu fitnah allaahumma innee as-alukas-sa'ata feel-qabr wal-hujjatal-baalighah wal-qawlath-thaabita feel-hayaatid-dunyaa wa feel-aakhirah wa an tunzila 'alayyal-amaana wal-faraj was-suroora wa nadratan-na'eem

Translation

O Allah, I ask You for a pardon after which there is no punishment, and a pleasure after which there is no displeasure, and well-being after which there is no affliction, and happiness after which there is no misery, and guidance after which there is no astrayness, and faith which no disbelief penetrates, and a heart which no trial infiltrates. O Allah, I ask You for spaciousness in the grave, and the conclusive proof, and the firm word in the life of this world and the Hereafter, and that You send down upon me security and relief, and joy and the radiance of bliss.

Transliteration

allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa aali muhammad wa 'arrifnee barakata haadhash-shahri wa yumnah warzuqnee khayrah wasrif 'annee sharrah waj'alnee feehi minal-faa'izeen bi-rahmatika yaa arhamar-raahimeen allaahumma anta wahhaabul-khayr fahab lee shawqan ilaa liqaa'ik wa ishfaaqam-min 'adhaabik wa hayaa'am-minka wa tawqeeran wa ijlaalaa hattaa yawjala min dhaalika qalbee wa yaqsha'irra minhu jildee

Translation

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and grant me recognition of the blessings of this month and its auspiciousness, and provide me with its good, and turn away from me its harm, and make me among the triumphant therein, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful. O Allah, You are the Bestower of good, so bestow upon me a longing to meet You, and an apprehension of Your punishment, and reverence toward You, dignity, and veneration, until my heart trembles from that, and my skin shivers from it,

Transliteration

wa yatajaafaa lahu jambee wa tadma'a minhu 'aynee wa laa akhluwa min dhikrika fee laylee wa nahaaree yaa arhamar-raahimeen allaahumma innee uthnee 'alayk wa maa 'asaa an yablugha madhee wa thanaa'ee ma'a qillati 'amalee wa qisari ra'yee wa antal-khaaliqu wa anal-makhlooq wa antal-maaliku wa anal-mamlook wa antar-rabbu wa anal-'abd wa antal-'azeezu wa anadh-dhaleel wa antal-qawiyyu wa anad-da'eef wa antal-ghaniyyu wa anal-faqeer

Translation

and my flank turns away from resting, and my eyes overflow with tears, and I am never empty of remembering You in my night and my day, O Most Merciful of the merciful. O Allah, I praise You, yet how can my praise and glorification ever reach Your due, given the deficiency of my deeds and the limitation of my intellect? For You are the Creator and I am the created, You are the Master and I am the owned, You are the Lord and I am the servant, You are the Mighty and I am the abased, You are the Strong and I am the weak, You are the Self-Sufficient and I am the needy,

Transliteration

wa antal-mu'tee wa anas-saa'il wa antal-hayyul-ladhee laa yamoot wa ana khalqun amoot faghfir lee warhamnee wa a'tinee su'lee fee dunyaaya wa aakhiratee wa tajaawaz 'annee wa 'an jamee'il-mu'mineena wal-mu'minaat wal-muslimeena wal-muslimaati al-ahyaa'i minhum wal-amwaat allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin 'abdika wa rasoolika wa nabiyyik wa safiyyika wa khiyaratika min khalqik allaahummar-fa' darajatah wa karrim maqaamah wa ajzil thawaabah

Translation

You are the Giver and I am the beggar, You are the Living Who never dies, and I am a mortal creation that perishes. So forgive me and have mercy on me, and grant me my request in my world and my Hereafter, and overlook my faults, and those of all believing men and believing women, and Muslim men and Muslim women, the living among them and the dead. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, Your servant, Your messenger, Your prophet, Your chosen one, and the elite of Your creation. O Allah, elevate his station, and honor his rank, and magnify his reward,

Transliteration

wa aflij hujjatah wa azhir 'udhrah wa 'azzim noorah wa adim karaamatah wa alhiq bihee ummatahu wa dhurriyyatah wa aqirra bi-dhaalika 'aynah allaahummaj-'al muhammadan akraman-nabiyyeena taba'aa wa a'zamahum manzilah wa ashrafahum karaamah wa a'laahum darajah wa afsahahum feel-jannati manzilaa allaahumma balligh muhammadanid-darajata wal-waseelah

Translation

and establish his proof triumphant, and manifest his justification, and make immense his light, and perpetuate his dignity, and unite him with his nation and his progeny, and comfort his eyes thereby. O Allah, make Muhammad the most honored of prophets in followers, and the greatest of them in status, and the most noble of them in dignity, and the highest of them in rank, and the most expansive of them in dwelling within Paradise. O Allah, convey Muhammad to the highest degree and the means of mediation,

Transliteration

wa sharrif bunyaanah wa 'azzim noorahu wa burhaanah wa taqabbal shafaa'atahu fee ummatih wa taqabbal salaata ummatihee 'alayh allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin kamaa ballagha risaalaatik wa talaa aayaatik wa nasaha li-'ibaadik wa jaahada fee sabeelika wa 'abadaka hattaa ataahul-yaqeen allaahumma zid muhammadam-ma'a kulli sharafin sharafaa wa ma'a kulli fadlin fadlaa wa ma'a kulli karaamatin karaamah wa ma'a kulli sa'aadatin sa'aadah

Translation

and honor his edifice, and magnify his light and his proof, and accept his intercession for his nation, and accept the blessings of his nation upon him. O Allah, bless Muhammad just as he conveyed Your messages, and recited Your signs, and sincerely advised Your servants, and strove in Your path, and worshipped You until certainty came unto him. O Allah, increase Muhammad with every honor an additional honor, and with every virtue an additional virtue, and with every nobility an additional nobility, and with every felicity an additional felicity,

Transliteration

hattaa taj'ala muhammadan feesh-sharafil-a'laa ma'ad-darajaatil-'ulaa allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa 'alaa aali muhammad wa sahhil lee mihnatee wa ballighnee umniyyatee wa wassi' 'alayya fee rizqee waqdi 'annee daynee wa farrij 'annee hammee wa ghammee wa karbee wa yassir lee iraadatee wa awsilnee ilaa bughyatee saree'an 'aajilaa yaa arhamar-raahimeen

Translation

until You place Muhammad in the supreme honor alongside the highest ranks. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and ease for me my trial, and make me attain my hope, and expand for me my sustenance, and settle for me my debt, and remove from me my worry, my distress, and my sorrow, and facilitate for me my will, and bring me to my goal swiftly and without delay, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
