Moonsighting Duas - Month of Ramadhan

Transliteration

Rabbī wa-Rabbuka Allāhu Rabbu l-ʿālamīn. Allāhumma ahillahu ʿalaynā bi-l-amni wa-l-īmān wa-s-salāmati wa-l-islām wa-l-musāraʿati ilā mā tuḥibbu wa-tarḍā. Allāhumma bārik lanā fī shahrinā hādhā, wa-rzuqnā khayrahu wa-ʿawnahu, wa-ṣrif ʿannā ḍurrahu wa-sharrahu wa-balāʾahu wa-fitnatahu.

Translation

Your and my Lord is Allah; the Lord of the worlds. O Allah: (please do) cause this crescent to carry with it for us security and faith And safety and Islam And expedition to whatever You love and please. O Allah: (please do) bless us in this month, And confer upon us with its goodness and aid, And save us from its harm, evil, ordeals, and sedition.

Transliteration

Allāhumma qad ḥaḍara shahru Ramaḍān wa-qadi ftaraḍta ʿalaynā ṣiyāmah, wa-anzalta fīhi l-Qurʾān hudan li-n-nāsi wa-bayyinātin mina l-hudā wa-l-furqān. Allāhumma aʿinnā ʿalā ṣiyāmih, wa-taqabbalhu minnā, wa-sallimnā fīh, wa-sallimnā minh, wa-sallimhu lanā fī yusrin minka wa-ʿāfiyah, Innaka ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr, Yā Raḥmānu yā Raḥīm.

Translation

O Allah: the month of Ramadan has commenced, And You have made obligatory upon us to observe fasting during it, And You revealed the Qur'an in it, As guidance for people and clear proofs of true guidance and distinction (between the right and the wrong). O Allah: (please) help us observe fasting in it, And accept it from us, And keep us safe during it, And help us observe it adequately, And keep it sound for us with easiness and good health from You. You verily have power over all things. O the All-beneficent, O the All-merciful

Transliteration

Allāhumma ahillahu ʿalaynā bi-l-amni wa-l-īmān wa-s-salāmati wa-l-islām wa-l-ʿāfiyati l-mujallalah wa-difāʿi l-asqām wa-l-ʿawni ʿalā ṣ-ṣalāti wa-ṣ-ṣiyāmi wa-l-qiyām wa-tilāwati l-Qurʾān. Allāhumma sallimnā li-shahri Ramaḍān, wa-tasallamhu minnā, wa-sallimnā fīh ḥattā yanqaḍiya ʿannā shahru Ramaḍān wa-qad ʿafawta ʿannā wa-ghafarta lanā wa-raḥimtanā.

Translation

O Allah: (please do) cause this crescent to carry with it for us security and faith And safety and Islam And encompassing good health and repulsion of ailments, And assistance on praying, observing fasting, and doing acts of worship, And on reciting the Qur'an. O Allah: (please do) keep us sound for the month of Ramadan, And accept our deeds during it, And save us during it, Until the month of Ramadan will not elapse Except that You have pardoned us, forgiven us, and had mercy upon us

Transliteration

Ayyuha l-khalqu l-muṭīʿ, Ad-dāʾibu s-sarīʿ, Al-mutaraddidu fī manāzili t-taqdīr, Al-mutaṣarrifu fī falaki t-tadbīr, Āmantu bi-man nawwara bika ẓ-ẓulam, Wa-awḍaḥa bika l-buham, Wa-jaʿalaka āyatan min āyāti mulkih, Wa-ʿalāmatan min ʿalāmāti sulṭānih, Fa-ḥadda bika z-zamān, Wa-mtahanaka bi-l-kamāli wa-n-nuqṣān, Wa-ṭ-ṭulūʿi wa-l-ufūl Wa-l-inārati wa-l-kusūf

Translation

O obedient creature, speedy and untiring, frequenter of the mansions of determination, moving about in the sphere of governance! I have faith in Him Who lights up darknesses through you, illuminates jet-black shadows by you, appointed you one of the signs of His kingdom And one of the marks of His authority, So, He identified time through You, And humbled you through increase and decrease, And rising and setting, And illumination and eclipse.

Transliteration

Fī kulli dhālika anta lahu muṭīʿ, Wa-ilā irādatihi sarīʿ, Subḥānahu mā aʿjaba mā dabbara min amrik! Wa-alṭafa mā ṣanaʿa fī shaʾnik! Jaʿalaka miftāḥa shahrin ḥādithin li-amrin ḥādith, Fa-asʾalu Allāha Rabbī wa-Rabbak, Wa-Khāliqī wa-Khāliqak, Wa-Muqaddirī wa-Muqaddirak, Wa-Muṣawwirī wa-Muṣawwirak An yuṣalliya ʿalā Muḥammadin wa-Āli Muḥammad, Wa-an yajʿalaka hilāla barakatin lā tamḥaquha l-ayyām, Wa-ṭahāratin lā tudannisuhā l-āthām,

Translation

In all of this you are obedient to Him, And prompt toward His will. Glory be to Him! How wonderful is what He has arranged in Your situation! How subtle what He has made for Your task! He has made You the key to a new month for a new situation. So I ask Allah, my Lord and Your Lord, my Creator and Your Creator, my Determiner and Your Determiner, my Form-giver and Your Form-giver, that He bless Muhammad and his Household and appoint You a crescent of blessings not effaced by days and of purity not defiled by sins;

Transliteration

Hilāla amnin mina l-āfāt, Wa-salāmatin mina s-sayyiʾāt, Hilāla saʿdin lā naḥsa fīh, Wa-yumnin lā nakada maʿah, Wa-yusrin lā yumāzijuhu ʿusr, Wa-khayrin lā yashūbuhu sharr, Hilāla amnin wa-īmān, Wa-niʿmatin wa-iḥsān, Wa-salāmatin wa-islām. Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Muḥammadin wa-Āli Muḥammad Wa-jʿalnā min arḍā man ṭalaʿa ʿalayh, Wa-azkā man naẓara ilayh,

Translation

a crescent of security from blights and of safety from evil deeds; a crescent of auspiciousness containing no misfortune, of prosperity accompanied by no adversity, of ease not mixed with difficulty, of good unstained by evil; a crescent of security and faith, favor and good-doing, safety and submission! O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, place us among the most satisfied of those over whom the crescent has risen, the purest of those who have looked upon it,

Transliteration

Wa-asʿada man taʿabbada laka fīh, Wa-waffiqnā Allāhumma fīhi li-ṭ-ṭāʿati wa-t-tawbah, Wa-ʿṣimnā fīhi mina l-āthāmi wa-l-ḥawbah, Wa-awziʿnā fīhi shukra n-niʿmah, Wa-albisnā fīhi junana l-ʿāfiyah, Wa-atmim ʿalaynā bi-stikmāli ṭāʿatika fīhi l-minnah, Innaka anta l-Mannānu l-Ḥamīd, Wa-ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā Muḥammadin wa-Ālihi ṭ-Ṭayyibīn, Wa-jʿal lanā fīhi ʿawnan minka ʿalā mā nadabtanā ilayh Min muftaraḍi ṭāʿatik Wa-taqabbalhā innaka l-Akramu min kulli karīm, Wa-l-Arḥamu min kulli raḥīm,

Translation

the most fortunate of those who have worshiped You under it; give us the success during [the new month] to repent, preserve us within it from misdeeds and exposition to punishment, allot to us within it thanksgiving for Your favor, clothe us during it in the shields of well-being, and complete for us Your kindness by perfecting therein obedience to You! Surely You are All-kind, Praiseworthy. And bless Muhammad and his Household, the good, the pure. And grant us aid from You to carry out that which You have ordered us to do in it; Such as the obedience to You which You have made incumbent upon us, and accept them from us, for You are the most Generous of all those who show generosity and the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

Transliteration

Āmīn Āmīn Rabba l-ʿālamīn.

Translation

Respond! Respond! O the Lord of the Worlds.

Transliteration

Rabbunā wa-Rabbuka Allāhu Rabbu l-ʿālamīn Allāhumma jʿalhu ʿalaynā hilālan mubārakā, wa-waffiqnā li-ṣiyāmi shahri Ramaḍān, wa-sallimnā fīhi, wa-tasallamnā minh, fī yusrin wa-ʿāfiyah, wa-staʿmilnā fīhi bi-ṭāʿatik, Innaka ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr.

Translation

Our Lord and your Lord is Allah, Lord of the worlds O Allah make it a blessed crescent for us and grant us the chance to fast in it and keep us safe in it and make us receive (good) from it in ease and health and use us in it for Your obedience surely You have power over all things
